The two months of September and October can be the perfect time to walk on sunny, crowd-free trails cooled slightly by autumn’s onset whilst still enjoying all the benefits of outdoor dining and wonderful blue-sky vistas. Self-guided walking takes you on your own adventure, at your own pace and without the worry of being close to fellow travellers. Your luggage is transferred to your next welcoming guesthouse on your behalf, where you are free to spend as much or as little time as you desire.

Easy Does It
Walking in Puglia is a dream for all the senses. The heel of Italy is perfect for the leisurely walker who wants to enjoy easy trails which lead to towns and cities of discovery. Matera in neighbouring Basilicata is your starting point. Explore this fascinating and historical ‘City of Rocks’ before taking in Alberobello, Martina Franca, Ostuni and Lecce on your travels. Indulging in the region’s world-renowned wines and culinary flavours are the icing on the cake.
Greece: Santorini and Naxos Discovery
The Greek Islands are all unique. Explore two of the best, hopping from one to the other by ferry and staying in small individual hotels. Cooling breezes and stunning views of the turquoise Aegean Sea will be ever-present as you explore the Byzantine churches and interior villages of Naxos. Head to nearby Santorini and a leisurely climb to the highest point of Profitis IIias, admiring the pretty white and blue villages and enjoying a renowned Santorini sunset.
Moderate Meanders
Turkey: Eastern & Western Lycian Way
The majority of sunseekers will have departed from this beautiful coastline in the autumn giving you the chance to enjoy some crowd-free beach and coastal trail time. Two itineraries explore each end of the Lycian Way. Walk Patara’s long beach and end at stunning Oludeniz lagoon on Best of the Western Lycian Way or see the ancient city of Olympos, the Chimera Flames and a boat ride to the Sunken City on Discover the Eastern Lycian Way. Why not combine both?
The inspiration for Gerald Durrell’s ‘My Family and Other Animals’ book (and now film and drama series) Corfu is a walker’s paradise. Find hidden coves for cooling dips as you criss-cross the interior along goats’ trails and through picturesque olive groves. Who wouldn’t want to stay on this magical island as long as possible? Take your pick of holiday lengths from an 8, 10 or 15-day itinerary, all of which will leave you longing for more!
