Enjoy exploring the best parts of the Lycian Way at your own pace from a selection of carefully planned walks of this beautiful region.
Walking in almost guaranteed sunshine brings a whole new meaning to 'Turkish Delight'. Taking a refreshing dip in the warm waters of the Mediterranean will prove irresistible too.
This walking holiday is twin centre-based in a delightful small family-run hotel with swimming pool. It is a great base to explore the trails of the Lycian Way and trail transfers are provided where required.
Your initial base, Patara, is home to one of the most stunning ancient cities in Turkey, as well as the longest beach with huge sand dunes. Not only exploring the beach, you will also discover the old aqueduct and siphon which carried water from the hills and into the city.
Your second home for the week is in the beautiful village of Faralya which is perched high up in the foothills of Baba Dag ‘Father Mountain', overlooking the famous butterfly valley. Your walks here include weaving clifftop paths, together with a visit to the stunning lagoon at Oludeniz.
On arrival in Dalaman, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Patara.
Today you will stroll through beautiful countryside towards Patara Beach. You will also have the chance to explore the ruins of the ancient city of Patara.
Your walk will start near the remains of the water supply; the water source is way beyond the hills near Caykov. The trail continues where you will see magnificent views as far as the islands off Kaputas beach and on to Kas and the Greek Island of Mais.
A transfer will take you to Akbel for the start of your walk. You will have a number of short climbs and descents today of up to 180 metres. You will pass alongside rivers, through olive groves, vineyards, pistachio and pomegranate orchards and cross terraced fields.
Today you will walk one of the classic Lycian Way trails, which was once the only way to travel between these villages. The route passes around the Bay of Kabak on a well-trodden path with some of the best coastal views you can find.
Your route starts with a long climb from above the Blue Lagoon at Oludeniz, following various paths which wind onto the foothills of Baba Dag (Father Mountain). You will pass through a number of different terrains and the small villages of Kozagac and Kirme.
Start the day with a visit to the former Greek village of Kaya Koy which was abandoned in 1923. Take some time to explore the deserted, winding streets which give the village an eerie atmosphere, while appreciating the disused orthodox churches. From here you will take a short stroll to the Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz where you can take some time to relax and swim.
Transfer to Dalaman airport for your flight back to the UK.
