Discover More About Slovakia
Slovakia really is a well-kept secret amongst European holiday destinations. Yet to hit the general tourist psyche, it still offers tracts of untouched wild mountain forest where bears roam undisturbed. The Tatra Mountains – the highest section of the vast Carpathian range – and their foothills dominate the north, east and centre of the country … and lend themselves perfectly to a hiking holiday.
We follow tracks that are known to be well used by bears on our unique walking trip to the Western Tatras and walk through areas forbidden to tourists, accompanied by a park ranger in our quest to see brown bears in one of the last refuges in Europe where they thrive. Walking through deep forests and traditional villages in this largely untouched corner of Europe makes for an unforgettable trip, and the Slovak food and wines provide a hearty and tasty accompaniment to our travels.
