The Himalayas – Nepal

The Caucasus

The mighty peaks of the Caucasus soar to heights of over 5,000m and form a natural barrier between Europe and Asia. To the north is Russia and on the southern side Georgia, one of the oldest orthodox Christian countries in the world, home to legends such as the Golden Fleece. This challenging trek takes us into the provinces of Khevsureti and Tusheti, the ‘soul’ of Georgia, and into a landscape of snow-capped mountains, alpine meadows, roaring rivers and verdant valleys.

The Carpathians

The mighty Carpathian Mountains of eastern Europe remain a mystery to many mountain walkers. Yet, this impressive mountain range stretches through Slovakia to Romania. From the jagged peaks of the High Tatras, to the mighty ridges of the Fagaras, also known as the Alps of Transylvania the Carpathians are also one of the last remaining wilderness areas of Europe where timeless villages and a life long since forgotten in most of Europe still exists. Definitely the choice for the discerning mountain walker.

The Andes

Second only in height to the Himalayas, the Andes are no less impressive. From the spires of Torres del Paine in Patagonia, to the Classic Inca Trail and Machu Picchu in Peru, the explosive summits of volcanoes in Ecuador or a climb to the highest point of Aconcagua itself, there is an amazing variety of choice for walking amongst the mountains of the Andes.

Rila and Pirin – Bulgaria

Bulgaria contains some of the most dramatic and jaw-dropping mountain scenery to be found anywhere in Europe, especially in the Rila and Pirin ranges, the highest in the country. Panoramic mountain views will take your breath away along an almost infinite series of trails to alpine meadows, remote glacial lakes and onto spectacular ridges and summits.

The French Pyrenees

Stretching from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees form a natural divide between France and Spain. There are excellent way-marked walking trails throughout the Pyrenees including the world famous GR10 long distance route which traverses the entire mountain range. In the northern foothills of the Pyrenees, close to the Mediterranean, ‘In the Footsteps of the Cathars’ takes you to the heart of the Corbieres region. This is a beautiful, historic Cathar footpath taking you through the rolling hills of southern France.
