Mount Olympos Self-guided Option
8 days, Self-Guided Groups, Minimum 2 People, Seasonal Weekly Departures
We can also offer walks in the Mount Olympos area on a self-guided basis. The actual itinerary varies from the guided tour as you will be based in a 3* hotel in Platamonas, close to the beach with a pool and restaurant.
Our programme offers four daywalks in this beautiful area with its geological diversities, high mountain climate and unique flora and fauna. These are:
- A walk to the impressive Profitis Ilias viewpoint and Tembi Valley from the historical village of Ambelakia.
- The famous Enipeas Gorge with its steep cliffs, waterfalls and Agios Dionysios Monastery.
- A walk between two traditional mountain villages, Paleos Porus and Paleos Panteleimonas, through ancient forests of chestnut, pine and mountain flora.
- A stunning hike up one of the lesser peaks of the Mount Olympos range, Peak Golna with its views of the famous Vithos Gorge and Aegean Sea.
This trip also includes a day visit to the spectacular monasteries at Meteora, perched precariously on the top of rock towers, high in the mountains and free time at leisure to enjoy the beach or optional activities such as snorkelling, diving, mountain-biking or further walks.
