Beginning in the historic fishing town of Paimpol, this self-guided walking holiday explores Bréhat, the "Island of Flowers", and sections of the GR34. Journey along rugged coastline and golden beaches, through authentic towns, including Tréguier, Perros-Guirec and Lannion, all with rich histories and religious significance. Marvel at the unique pink granite rock formations of Ploumanac’h and stunning shores of the Île Renote Peninsula. On this walking holiday, delight in the incredible coastal scenery, strong heritage and local gastronomy throughout. 

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Paimpol

    Make your own way to Brittany either by train, plane or ferry, and onto Paimpol. 

    Once you've arrived, if time allows, you could walk along the scenic coastal path to the impressive 13th century Beauport Abbey, and onto a nearby oyster farm.

    Walking distance: 12 km | Ascent: 80 m | Descent: 80 m

  2. Day 2: Walk Around Bréhat Island

    Take the short journey by bus and boat to Bréhat today, where you can admire the abundance of exotic plants on a walk around the island. Wander through the labyrinth of pretty streets, alleyways and beautiful gardens in peace, as the island has restricted vehicle access. 

    Walking distance: 13 km | Ascent: 130 m | Descent: 130 m

  3. Day 3: Arcouest Point to Lézardrieux

    After catching the bus to Arcouest Point, walk along the GR34 to Loguivy-de-la-Mer, a small lobster fishing village filled with over 100 boats. Follow the coastal trail through the Trieux Estuary and into woodland passages. The walk concludes in the coastal town of Lézardrieux, before being transferred to Tréguier.

  4. Day 4: The Pointe du Château Hiking Trail

    Starting in the village of Plougrescant, walk along the rugged coastline to the most northerly point of Brittany at the Pointe du Château. Along the way, marvel at incredible rock formations and the impressive Gouffre de Castel Meur, with waves crashing beneath your feet.

    Walking distance: 12 km | Ascent: 95 m | Descent: 95 m

  5. Day 5: Walk to Ploumanac’h

    On an out-and-back trail setting off from Perros-Guirec, walk along the Custom Officer’s Trail to Ploumanac’h. Weave through staggering pink granite rock formations created by years of erosion, forming spectacular shapes.

    Walking distance: 16 km | Ascent: 180 m | Descent: 180 m

  6. Day 6: Île Renote Peninsula

    After a short bus journey, start walking along a section of the GR34 circling the Île Renote Peninsula. It's a gentle walk offering panoramic views of the wild coastline, golden beaches, and overlooking the incredible rock formations seen on yesterday’s walk.

    Walking distance: 11 km | Ascent: 50 m | Descent: 50 m

  7. Day 7: Trébeurden to Lannion

    From Trébeurden, walk on a panoramic path, offering superb views of pristine beaches and inviting turquoise waters. Carry on through ferns, forest, and along an old towpath leading to the picturesque town of Lannion.

    Walking distance: 20 km | Ascent: 230 m | Descent: 230 m

  8. Day 8: Departure

    If time allows, explore the historic town of Lannion, capital of the province of Trégor, before making your onward travel home.
