Explore the charming region of Alsace on foot, passing through the vineyards and charming villages as you travel from Obernai in the north to Turkheim and Eguisheim in the south. Located on the border of Germany and Switzerland, with its rich heritage and captivating allure, Alsace is the perfect destination for soaking in everything the area has to offer. Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Obernai

    Arrive at your hotel in Obernai and have the rest of the day at leisure.

  2. Day 2: Walk from Obernai to Andlau

    Today, you follow the pilgrims' path from Obernai to Andlau, passing the renowned Mont Saint-Odile monastery.

    Walking distance: 21 kilometres | Ascent: 790 metres | Descent: 745 metres

  3. Day 3: Hike from Andlau to Châtenois

    Gently ascend through the Andlau forest and pass through a picturesque medieval town and vineyards to the fortified city of Châtenois.

    Walking distance: 21 kilometres | Ascent: 520 metres | Descent: 550 metres

  4. Day 4: Walk from Châtenois to Thannenkirch

    Sure to be one of the highlights of your week, today's hike takes you to the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg before ending in Thannenkirch, nestled in the Alsatian mid-mountain region.

    Walking distance: 14 kilometres | Ascent: 550 metres | Descent: 270 metres

  5. Day 5: Hike from Thannenkirch to Riquewihr

    Today, you visit the ruins of Saint-Ulrich Castle and historic Ribeauvillé village as you journey to Riquewihr, renowned as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

    Walking distance: 12 kilometres | Ascent: 320 metres | Descent: 520 metres

  6. Day 6: Walk from Riquewihr to Turckheim

    Follow the trails amidst the vineyards, through charming villages and the Vosges forest to reach Turckheim, known for superb wine and its night watchmen. 

    Walking distance: 18 kilometres | Ascent: 575 metres | Descent: 600 metres

  7. Day 7: Walk from Turkheim to Eguisheim and departure

    Embark on a scenic journey through a charming chestnut forest to reach Hohlandsbourg Castle before continuing to the final destination of your hike, Eguisheim. Later, a taxi will take you to Colmar SNCF station for your onward or return journey.

    Walking distance: 13 kilometres | Ascent: 430 metres | Descent: 460 metres
