Do I need a visa?
15-day visa-free entry is available. A €10 fee* is payable on arrival for stays of up to 15 days. For longer visits, visas can be issued on arrival for 30, 60, or 90 days.
Proof of onward or return travel is required in all cases, and your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your stay.
What's the cuisine like?
Madagascar offers a rich culinary journey. Meals blend French, Malagasy, and Creole influences, with staples like rice, tropical fruits, and local specialities.
Can you cater for dietary needs?
Vegetarian options are widely available in Madagascar, and dietary needs can be catered for with advance notice.
Do we walk to each destination or are there transfers?
There are transfers between each destination, all by private vehicle. Most long transfers are in air-conditioned minibuses or 4WD vehicles, depending on road conditions.
Distances between stops are often scenic and broken up with cultural visits or rest stops. Your driver / guide will be always English-speaking and local.
What conditions can I expect on the walking trails?
Trail conditions vary throughout the route, including rocky paths, forest trails, river crossings, and village footpaths. Walks range from 3-6 hours.
Moderate fitness and sturdy walking shoes are essential for this trip, and walking poles may be useful for uneven or slippery sections, especially after rain.
The tour sounds great! Can I add-on some time after the group trip to explore more of Madagascar?
Yes of course!
We recommend adding on a beach extension to the island of Sainte Marie, staying in a half-board tropical resort—ideal for relaxation after the walking holiday. Contact us if you'd like to arrange this.
