During this itinerary you will be walking in one of Norway’s finest national parks. This self-guided trip offers stunning views as you reach a number of different viewpoints while walking through the Jotunheimen Mountains.

Enjoy hikes that have inspired mountaineers and artists for centuries, and stay in unique accommodations including historical hotels and traditional Norwegian tourist cabins.
On this trip you will also walk along some of the famous ‘King’s Road’ trail, stopping to take incredible pictures at some of the most iconic viewpoints in Norway before heading down to Aurland. Here you will get a taste of Fjord Norway with a half day cruise along Sognefjord and down to Bergen.
Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Oslo, transfer to Beitstolen
Your trip will start at Oslo bus station, where you will take the bus to Beitstolen.

Day 2: Hike to Bitihorn or Synshorn Peak
Today you can choose from two walks, one taking you to Bitihorn Peak and the other to Synshorn Peak.
Walking distance: 6 km | Ascent: 550 m | Descent: 550 m

Day 3: Hike through the Svartdalen Valley
This morning you will take a boat from Bygdin dock to Torfinnsbu, where you will be walking the third stage of the famous historical route through Jotunheimen National Park. Walking through Svartdalen (Black Valley), you will be surrounded by towering peaks. Make a steady ascent over the valley before making your way down to Torfinnsbu.

Day 4: Exploring the ‘Gjende Alps’
Today you will walk to Gjendetunga peak; from this incredible viewpoint you can see Gjende Lake and the surrounding glaciers.
Walking distance: 6 km | Ascent: 520 m

Day 5: Hiking over the mountains to Eidsbugarden
After breakfast start your hike through the Vesladalen Valley towards Eidsbugarden and Fondsbu. The trail will take you up Vesladalen and over to Veslease which sits just above the forest.
Walking distance: 16 km | Ascent: 550 m

Day 6: Transfer to Tyinkrysset, walk from Kyrkjestolen to Mairstova
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Tyinkrysset from where you will walk over Fileljell to Maristove which takes you on the highest point of Kongevegen.
Walking distance: 10 km | Ascent: 370 m

Day 7: Hike through the famous Vindhellavegen
Today you will be walking on arguable the most famous part of the King’s Road over Filefjell. The path will be undulating with some shorter steep sections throughout the day. This walk can be extended should you wish to explore more of the countryside around the King’s Road.
Walking distance: 9 km | Ascent: 220 m

Day 8: Travel to Aurland; afternoon cruise on Sognefjord
This morning has been left free for you to enjoy at your leisure. This afternoon you can relax and enjoy your scenic cruise along Sognefjord, taking in the incredible views before you reach Bergen.

Day 9: Depart Bergen
Your trip finishes at your accommodation after breakfast. Make your own way to the airport in time for your flight.
Bergen is a beautiful, historic city so please let us know if you would like to extend your stay. Prices are available on request.
