Starting in the gateway to the Prosecco Hills, Conegliano, this walking holiday in Italy combines culture and nature as you walk through endless vineyards beneath the backdrop of the Pre-Alps. Meet passionate winemakers and enjoy tastings of some of the finest quality Prosecco along the way, as you journey through some of Italy’s most beautiful villages, passing historic churches and hilltop fortresses before reaching the riverside town of Bassano del Grappa. With traditional piazzas and a remarkable bridge, it's renowned for its signature spirit.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Conegliano

    Upon your arrival in Venice, make your own way by train to the hotel in Conegliano. The town is known as a city of art and wine, and the gateway to the Prosecco Hills – spend your afternoon enjoying its wine bars or explore some of the town’s historic sites.

  2. Day 2: Walk to Follina

    After a short journey to Tarzo, begin your first hike in Italy to the village of Follina, which is recognised as one of the country's most beautiful villages.

    Discover elegant villas, castles and endless vineyards along the way, and walk along a picturesque ridge, overlooking Revine Lake, the Treviso hills and the Venetian Pre-Alps.

  3. Day 3: Walk to Valdobbiadene

    Walk along countryside tracks, through small villages, and past tempting wine cellars; today’s walk is completely surrounded by intoxicating scenery, overlooking the characteristic hillside vineyards.

    The Valdobbiadene Valley is known to produce some of the most prized Prosecco; try a well-earnt glass from the Prosecco vending machine that's en route.

    Walking distance: 17 km | Ascent: 610 m | Descent: 560 m

  4. Day 4: Walk to Pieve di Soligo

    Today, journey on foot through picturesque villages and past beautiful churches, offering stunning views throughout as you head to the bustling market town of Pieve di Soligo.

    The region produces some of the best Glera grapes on its steep, south-facing terraced hills - after your walk, you can sample some of the finest Prosecco on an afternoon wine tasting tour.

    Walking distance: 12 km | Ascent: 400 m | Descent: 520 m

  5. Day 5: Walk to Susegana

    Walk along a mixture of rural tracks and woodland paths, offering far-reaching views across the local landscape which is dotted with architectural treasures. Carry on your journey to the medieval village of Susegana, passing Collalto Castle and San Salvatore Castle on the way.

    Walking distance: 14 km | Ascent: 140 m | Descent: 220 m

  6. Day 6: Walk to Bassano del Grappa

    On your last day exploring the Prosecco Hills, begin your hike in Asolo, known as the town with a hundred horizons. With views of the Veneto hills and foothills of the Alps, you walk towards the town of Bassano del Grappa.

    Upon arrival, explore the historic piazzas, stroll along the river, and enjoy a Grappa tasting tour, giving you the opportunity to try the local spirit.

    Walking distance: 14 km | Ascent: 110 m | Descent: 220 m

  7. Day 7: Depart Bassano del Grappa

    After breakfast, depart from Bassano del Grappa, or consider extending your Italian stay here to explore the town further. Alternatively, you could add a couple of nights in Venice.
