This self-guided hike through southern Provence travels from Menton to Nice through the unspoilt beauty of rustic villages, pine forests, valleys, and the peak of Baudon with views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Your walk starts in the stunning town of Menton, blessed with 300 days of sun every year and vibrant buildings cluttering the hillside. You pass through medieval villages in the Côte d'Azur, plentiful olive groves, and other natural wonders, and climb to the summit of Baudon where you can enjoy the elegance of Beaulieu-sur-Mer before arriving in the old town centre of Nice.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Menton

    Spend the day exploring the colourful town of Menton. Take time to explore the religious architecture and serene seaside esplanade, or relax at your accommodation. 

  2. Day 2: Walk to Gorbio & Roquebrune

    Walk from Menton to the delightful hill top villages of Gorbio and Roquebrune located high above the Mediterranean, offering spectacular vistas of the Côte d'Azur below.

    Walking distance: 12 kilometres | Ascent: 250 metres | Descent: 280 metres

  3. Day 3: Walk to the summit of Baudon

    Today, you hike to Baudon’s peak for a breathtaking 360° view of the surrounding sights, including the Bays of Menton and Saint-Tropez, the Esterel massif mountain range. 

    Walking distance: 15 kilometres | Ascent: 825 metres | Descent: 825 metres
     

  4. Day 4: Walk from La Turbie to Beaulieu-sur-Mer

    Follow the balcony trail across the Grand Corniche Nature Park famed for observing bird migrations and a final descent via the steep Nietzshe Path via Èze to Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

    Walking distance: 15 kilometres | Ascent: 300 metres | Descent: 900 metres

  5. Day 5: Walk from Beaulieu-sur-Mer to Old Nice

    For your final trek, you travel along the serene coastline and make your way across the foothills, taking time to revel in the staggering views. The day ends in the old town centre of Nice. 

    Walking distance: 14 kilometres | Ascent: 300 metres |  Descent: 300 metres

  6. Day 6: Explore Nice and departure

    Before you depart, take time to soak up your last rays of sun and explore the Old Town, and the market to buy local produce.
