Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Fly to Marrakech; transfer to Oukaimeden

Fly to Marrakech, where you’ll be transferred by private vehicle to Oukaimeden in the Atlas Mountains. Depending on the arrival time of your chosen flight, you can take a short walk up to a classic viewpoint for a mountain panorama.

  2. Day 2: Trek via the Tizi n’ou Addi to Tacheddirt

Ascend along a piste track towards Angour before walking parallel to this most impressive mountain, to rise at a steady gradient towards the first and highest pass you'll cross on this holiday - the Tizi nou Addi. Enjoy views of the Atlas Mountains and across the valley below, before continuing up on a Berber trail to Tacheddirt, the highest permanently occupied Berber village in the whole of North Africa.

  3. Day 3: Cross Tizi Tamatert to Aremd

Descend down valley on a piste track, passing tiny villages along the way to Tinerhourhine. You'll then ascend up a zig-zagging mule trail to reach the Tizi n'Tamatert where there are stunning views. Descend and take a detour through the village of Targa Imoula to follow a villagers' trail up to Aremd, where mighty Toubkal dominates the skyline.

  4. Day 4: Cross Tizi Mizik to Tizi Oussem Village

Follow a Berber trail that leads steadily up a side valley to the Tizi Mizik. Enjoy new views across the Azzaden valley and tree covered hills in this more vegetated landscape, before descending on a Berber trail to Tizi Oussem.

  5. Day 5: Walk down the Azzaden Valley to Ouirgane village

Follow local trails down the Azzaden Valley that cling to the valley sides, with the occasional crossing from one side of the valley to the other. Continue down to the splendid village of Tassa Ouirgane.
