This fast-paced tour offers a variety of walks in two of Southeast Asia’s most fascinating countries, with opportunities to meet friendly villagers and enjoy varied scenery and captivating cultural sites.

Starting in the bustling city of Bangkok, you begin the tour with a fascinating and varied itinerary, exploring Thailand’s capital and the surrounding countryside. Trails will take you past natural waterfalls, intricate cave systems and through Karen villages, where you can enjoy friendly Thai hospitality at a homestay, and take in the beauty of the landscapes.

You will also have the chance spot some endemic wildlife in Khao Yai National Park before heading over to neighbouring Vietnam for the final part of the trip. Discover the charm of Hanoi and its vibrant atmosphere, as well as trekking from village to village in the bright and welcoming north. 

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart UK

    Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Bangkok.                                        

  2. Day 2: Arrive Bangkok

    You will be met on arrival at Bangkok airport and transferred to your accommodation.

  3. Day 3: Full day tour of Bangkok

    Visit some of Bangkok’s most famous sites including Wat Pho Temple and the Grand Palace, as well as exploring the vibrant shopping streets and markets.

  4. Day 4: Journey to Kanchanaburi, nature trail trek

    Transfer to Tham Than National Park via Kanchanaburi. This afternoon you will walk along a nature trail to a waterfall and have some time to take a swim.

  5. Day 5: Cave trek & Karen Village visit

    Today's walk will take you past Tham Than Lod National Park's famous cave system with its gallery forest and stream which runs through it. Walking through tropical rainforest, discover diverse species of plants including palm trees and giant bamboo.

  6. Day 6: Relax & learn to cook at your local homestay

    A relaxing day to enjoy some quality time with a local family and learn how to cook and prepare traditional Thai cuisine.

  7. Day 7: Journey to Ayutthaya, time to rest

    Today you will be transferred to Ayutthaya and have some time to rest.

  8. Day 8: Explore Ayutthaya, transfer to Khao Yai

    After a short visit to Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, start your journey to Khao Yai, stopping en route at Ayutthaya ruins, the former capital of the Thai Kingdom.

  9. Day 9: Khao Yai National Park trek

    Following the 'Gibbon Route', you will walk past a mineral lick and watchtower before reaching Haew Marok waterfall. You will also have the chance to take an evening safari to see elephants in the wild.

  10. Day 10: Fly to Hanoi

    Bidding farewell to your Thai guide, today you will fly to Vietnam where you will be met on arrival.

  11. Day 11: Transfer to Mai Chau, trek in Pu Luong Nature Reserve

    Your journey this morning takes you through spectacular limestone mountains, stopping for some incredible photo opportunities on your way to Mai Chau. Beginning your trek at the Pu Long gateway, you will follow a mixture of dirt and gravel paths until you reach Hang village, which is home to a Thai ethnic minority.

  12. Day 12: Full day trekking from village to village

    Trekking through beautiful forest and terraces, paths will be a mixture of ups and downs with some extended sections of ascent. The climb is well worth the effort as you are rewarded with spectacular views across the valley.

  13. Day 13: Journey to Ninh Binh via Van Long Nature Reserve

    You will be transferred to La Han Bridge and then on to Van Long Nature Reserve. These beautiful wetlands have dramatic limestone cliffs and are home to the largest population of the endangered Delacour’s langur.

  14. Day 14: Visit Vietnam’s ancient capital, transfer to Hanoi

    Spend some time in Vietnam’s ancient capital, Hoa Lu, and learn about the country’s first centralised feudal state before walking through Hanoi’s charming Old Quarter.

  15. Day 15: Fly back to the UK

    You will be transferred to the airport in time for your return flight to the UK.
