  • Enjoy Tirana nightlife in ‘The Block’

Join us on our quest to follow in the footsteps of Lord George Gordon Byron (1788-1824) through Southern Albania. Lord Byron set out on a grand tour of the Mediterranean in 1809, during the course of which he visited Spain, Malta, Albania, Greece and Asia Minor. His visit to Albania in the autumn of that year made a lasting impression on him and is reflected in the second canto of the poem ‘Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage’ which catapulted him to fame as a writer in 1812.

Our walking tour starts in the picturesque Llogara National Park, trekking through forest towards the Karaburini Peninsula. The following day we embark on a trek to Mount Cika with the option to walk the steep ascent to Qore Summit (2,005 metres) for a memorable mountain and sea panorama. Walk through unspoiled valleys, exploring villages encountered en route.

Byron’s Trail leads us down to the stunning Albanian Riviera where you will notice the vegetation becomes noticeably Mediterranean once more, with olive groves and vines. We visit the XVIII Century fortress of Ali Pasha of Tepelena, who made Byron welcome in his tour of Albania. The trail leads us to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Butrint and Gjirokastra and ends with a walk above the trendy city of Tirana where we stay for our final evening.
