Sardinia’s rugged landscape is dotted with nuraghi – mysterious Bronze Age stone ruins shaped like beehives.  Explore these and other ruins while you learn about the island's fascinating history. The hiking trails will take you along dramatic coastlines where cliffs plunge into the sea and weave into the rolling hills. Follow the now unused mining trails through old mining settlements, passing springs, crystal clear water and golden sandy beaches. This trip offers moderate walks and enough time to relax and enjoy the beautiful Sardinian sunshine and welcoming hospitality.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Travel to Cagliari & transfer to Buggerru

    On arrival at Cagliarai, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation in the village of Buggerru where your trek begins.

  2. Day 2: Circular walk with views of Cala Domestica

    Today you will do a circular walk, starting from your accommodation in Buggerru and heading up to Cala Domestica for spectacular views over the bay.

    Walking distance: 12 km

  3. Day 3: Walking towards Capo Pecora

    Starting in the village of Portixeddu, walk towards Capo Pecora with its coarse, light coloured sandy beaches. Continuing along the trail, reach La Vedetta, a small World War II fort where you can marvel at the sensational views along the wild sandy beach of Scivu.

    Walking distance: 16 km

  4. Day 4: Punic & Roman temple of Antas to the caves of Su Mannau

    Your walk will start at the Punic and Roman temple of Antas near Fuminimaggiore. Take some time to explore before heading north towards the caves of Su Nannau. Later you will walk through the tiny hamlet of Fluinimaggiore towards a local agriturismo to spend the night.

  5. Day 5: Fighezia to Sciopadroxiu

    The route you are taking today follows old mining trails through the hills and towards the sea. Reaching the once flourishing town of Ingortosu and Naracouli, where you’ll find ruins of the old washery.

    Walking distance: 9 km

  6. Day 6: Explore Piscinas famous sand dunes

    Today has been left free for you to explore at your leisure. You may wish to explore Piscinas. famous for its sand dunes, which are among the highest in Europe.

  7. Day 7: Sciopadroxiu to Montevecchio

    Your walk today follows the same trails as miners used to get to Montevecchio, formerly the biggest mining town in Sardinia. Traveling along rolling hills, the lightly undulating paths offer wonderful views.

    Walking distance: 15 km

  8. Day 8: Transfer to Cagliari airport

    You will be transferred to Cagliari airport in time for your flight.
