Day 2: Lobos Island Discovery
Take a boat from Corralejo to Los Lobos, a six-square-kilometre island and protected nature reserve. The boat docks at Casa del Puertito Bay, a hamlet containing a few houses and restaurants.
From the hamlet, follow a trail towards the north of the island, offering views of a lighthouse and the coast of Fuerteventura. After the hike, take some time to relax at the beautiful horseshoe bay or enjoy lunch, before taking the boat back to Corralejo.
Walking distance: 10 km | Ascent: 80 m | Descent: 80 m
-
Day 3: Corralejo to El Cotillo
Today you hike to El Cotillo, through the picturesque volcanic landscapes along the west coast. The trail leads you through the volcanic chain of Bayuyo, Montaña Colorada and Calderón Hondo — these are a few of the newest volcanic formations on the island.
You then pass through the town of Lajares, where it is possible to stop and enjoy a refreshment. From the town, the landscape changes as you get closer to the former fishing village of El Cotillo. This hike provides varied scenery from volcanic terrain to rural landscapes and coastal trails.
Walking distance: 22 km | Ascent: 300 m | Descent: 280 m
-
Day 4: El Cotillo to Tefia
Today's hike takes you from El Cotillo to Tindaya, then on to Tefia, providing a fantastic opportunity to explore the authentic interior of Fuerteventura, from its dry plains to mountainous views.
The trail takes you close to the island's mountains, and an area sacred to the original inhabitants of Fuerteventura. Continue along the route and through rugged landscapes until you reach the remote village of Tefia.
Walking distance: 20 km | Ascent: 270 m | Descent: 90 m
-
Day 5: Circular Route From Tefia
Follow a circular trail from Tefia, leading you through the quiet side of the island towards the dry landscapes of Los Molinos, and the green ravine of Barranco de los Molinos. This area is known for its unique presence of water and the variety of flora and fauna that surround the ravine.
Continue to the coastal village of Puertito de Los Molinos, where lunch with sea views can be enjoyed before heading back inland, where the landscape becomes dry and barren once more.
Please note: The Barranco de los Molinos area is usually closed from 15th February to 31st July, due to the bird breeding season. During this time, an alternative route will be planned for you.
Walking distance: 20 km | Ascent: 370 m | Descent: 370 m
-
Day 6: Tefia to Betancuria
Starting in Tefia, make your way to Betancuria through picturesque villages. From Valle de Santa Ines, the trail leads steeply to a viewpoint with two statues and views across the northeast of the island.
Descend from the viewpoint, and begin to see the green landscape of Betancuria. Approaching closer to the village, the white buildings with wooden balconies and the fortress-like “Catedral de Santa Maria” come into view.
Walking distance: 16 km | Ascent: 490 m | Descent: 240 m

Day 7: Circular Trail From Betancuria
The final hike of the holiday is a circular trail around Betancuria. From Betancuria, hike through the hilly landscape and along quiet country roads and paths. The trail passes farmland and small valleys, whilst views stretch across the beautiful open and rugged landscape. The route is mixed, with ascents, descents and flatter sections, providing a wonderful and varied final hike.
Lunch can be enjoyed in Betancuria at the end of the hike. Alternatively, pick up some provisions beforehand for a picnic with a view en route.
Walking distance: 10 km | Ascent: 300 m | Descent: 310 m

Day 8: Depart Fuerteventura
Today marks the end of your hiking holiday. Depending on your flight time, you have free time to relax and enjoy final views of the island before a transfer to the airport.
Please note: Some accommodation is located in small, rural villages where shops, restaurants and other facilities are limited, and opening hours may be restricted. We recommend purchasing snacks, drinks and any essential provisions in advance, particularly before arriving in Tefia and when preparing for longer walking days. Dinner at Cecilio B&B must be requested in advance. Our suggested flights are from Gatwick — please speak to our travel consultants if you wish to depart from an alternative airport.
