Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive Amman

On arrival into Amman Airport, transfer to your hotel.

  2. Day 2: Amman city tour & Dead Sea visit

This morning you'll enjoy a half-day city tour. Among other sightseeing activities, you'll have the time to explore the Citadel and the Roman theatre, two of the most popular archaeological sites in the city. In the afternoon you'll be transferred to the Dead Sea and the afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.

  3. Day 3: Trek the Wadi Dana Trail

Drive to the village of Dana early this morning for the start of your trek. The trail drops steeply as you head west into the Dana Valley, after which the trail descends through the Dana Biosphere Reserve on a shallower incline. Today’s hike ends at Wadi Ghuweir where you’ll spend the night at a wilderness camp.

    Walking distance: 16 km | Ascent: 280 m | Descent: 1,420 m

  4. Day 4: Hike to Little Petra

Today you'll hike to Little Petra, past Nabataean ruins – some of which may include wine and olive presses and aqueducts – and Bedouin camps with small sheep enclosures and plots of land for growing crops. Little Petra is believed to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra and developed to provide accommodation and refreshment for traders travelling along the Silk Road. You’ll have time to explore the site, which has impressive rock-hewn architecture and many interesting ancient buildings.

    Walking distance: 14 km | Ascent: 610 m | Descent: 560 m

  5. Day 5: Walk to Petra

An old Nabataean route leads from Little Petra, out of the valley and towards the site of Petra itself and today you follow this trail right to the ‘Back Door’ entrance of Petra. This route offers an exciting alternative entrance to the site, as one of its most iconic buildings, The Monastery, is suddenly right in front of you as you approach from this direction. You then walk down Nabataean steps leading towards the Treasury and the rest of this world-famous site.

    Walking distance: 17 km

  6. Day 6: Explore the ‘Rose City’

Today you'll head back into Petra on the famous Siq Trail, entering the city through a narrow, kilometre-long gorge flanked by 80m high cliffs. Next you follow the Um Al Biyara (‘Mother of Cisterns’) trail which takes you above the ancient city, giving you spectacular views.

  7. Day 7: Transfer to Wadi Rum & hike up Jabal Al Hash

Jabal Al Hash is located in the Al Forah area, close to where the Jordanian border intersects the Saudi Arabian border. Your hike offers breathtaking views over both countries and gives you the chance to see all the fabulous range of colours for which the world-famous Wadi Rum desert is renowned. Wadi Rum is equally impressive at night, with excellent views of the Milky Way on clear evenings.

    Walking distance: 5 km | Ascent: 1,710 m | Descent: 1,640 m

  8. Day 8: Climb Jordan’s highest peak & sunset jeep tour

You'll be taken by jeep to the foot of Um Ad Dami Mountain, the highest peak in Jordan (sitting at 1,854m). Later this afternoon you'll have a two-hour jeep tour climbing sand dunes and rock bridges, exploring the Wadi Rum’s valleys, canyons and deserts.

    Walking distance: 4 km | Ascent: 1,820 m | Descent: 1,465 m

  9. Day 9: Transfer to Aqaba; afternoon at leisure

After a leisurely morning, you’ll be driven to Aqaba. Your afternoon has been left free for you to enjoy at leisure.

  10. Day 10: Depart Jordan

You'll be picked up from your accommodation in Aqaba and transferred to the airport in time for your return flight.
