There are two hiking options for some of the days: a longer, more strenuous hike or an easier option, which is typically shorter with less ascent.

Day 1: Arrive in Kotor
Make your own way to the hotel in Kotor.
This evening is free for you to relax and explore Kotor, from its cobbled historic streets, to the Cathedral of Saint Trypon.

Day 2: Trek to the summit of Mount Vrmac
The first hike takes you to the summit of Mount Vrmac. From Kotor, follow a zigzag path until you reach the well-preserved 1892 Vrmac Fortress, where views of the surrounding landscape and bay await.
Continue following a mountain ridge until you reach the 765-metre summit of Vrmac. The trek ends with a descent to Donji Stoliv village.
Walking distance: 16 km | Ascent: 765 m | Descent: 765 m
Shorter option: Mount Vrmac to Gornja Lastva
Beginning at the Vrmac Fortress, a trail leads along the ridge until reaching the summit of Sveti Ilija, from here take some time to enjoy the views, before following a trail to Gornja Lastva. A transfer takes you back to your accommodation from here.
Walking distance: 10 km | Ascent: 265 m | Descent: 475 m

Day 3: Hike to Vranovo Brdo Fortress & Persat
From the village of Orahovac, follow a winding path through woodland until you reach the abandoned village of Stephen. Continue and ascend to the Vranovo Brdo Fortress, where on a clear day the Dinara Mountain Range can be seen.
The final stretch of the hike leads to the Venetian-style town of Persat.
Explore the coastal town, and later in the day return to Kotor by boat.Walking distance: 14 km | Ascent: 500 m | Descent: 500 m
Shorter option: Lustica Peninsula
After a transfer, explore the Lustica Peninsula at a leisurely pace. The trail follows rocky paths along the coast with opportunities to stop and appreciate the sea views or have a swim in the sea.

Day 4: Ascend the famous Kotor Ladder Path
Today’s adventure takes you on Kotor’s iconic Ladder Path, a trail featuring over 70 zigzags that ascend from the bay to the Krstac Pass, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
At the top, you can continue to Njeguši and savour local specialities of dry-cured ham and wine, before returning to Kotor by taxi. Alternatively, descend the Ladder Path, retracing your steps.
It's possible to get a transfer to the top and walk down the path, or only walk part of the way up and retrace your steps back down to make today’s hike easier.

Day 5: Explore Lovcen National Park by foot
A transfer takes you to Lovcen National Park; once there, a circular trail leads past remote settlements and to several viewpoints, where the lush forest and dramatic mountains can be seen.
Following the hike, there's an option to explore the royal capital of Cetinje before a transfer to your accommodation in Sveti Stefan.

Shorter option: Lovcen National Park & Mausoleum
An easier hike in Lovcen National Park, past meadors and quiet hamlets until reaching the mausoleum, a mountain top viewpoint which offers exceptional views across the sea and surrounding peaks.

Day 6: Coastal trek from Budva to Sveti Stefan
A transfer takes you to the start of the hike near Budva. The route follows a panoramic path with views across the Budva Riviera.
Continue along the trail to the Church of Ogradnica. From here, the trail descends, offering glimpses of the coast and Sveti Stefan island.
Walking distance: 15 km | Ascent: 650 m | Descent: 650 m
Shorter option: Coastal trails
Today’s easier hike is a coastal trail between Sveti Stefan and Budva, the route hugs the coast and leads you across beaches including Przno. The trail allows several opportunities to relax in a café, on the beach or go swimming.
Walking distance: 8 km | Ascent: 110 m | Descent: 90 m

Day 7: Leisurely walk at Lake Skadar
A morning transfer brings you to Rijeka Crnojevica, where your hike follows the river past an old mill and a cave. After crossing the river, ascend to a viewpoint with lake views and a historic church. Return via a bridge to the start.
If time permits, enjoy a short boat ride or sample local fish dishes and wine.

Day 8: Departure from Montenegro
Today marks the end of your hiking venture along Montenegro's coast. Make your way to the airport. Transfers and additional nights in Montenegro can be arranged upon request - contact us to find out more.
Please note: The holiday is two-centre based in Kotor, and near the iconic Sveti Stefan island. Typically, three star accommodations are booked, however there are options to upgrade and to make the holiday centre-based in either Kotor or Sveti Stefan. Contact us for further information.
