The highland area of the Simien Mountains is a designated World Heritage site, dominated by high plateaus, plunging gorges, canyons and dramatic rock pinnacles.

During this trip you'll visit Gondor - the Camelot of Ethiopia - rich in art and culture as well as being famous for its many medieval castles and churches. We'll also spend a few hours visiting a 'Link Ethiopia' project - a local primary school. Our fascinating 5-day trek culminates with breaktaking views of Ras Dashen across the valley. At 4620m, this is one of the highest summits in Africa.

Day 1. Depart the UK
Depart UK on an overnight flight to Addis Abba.
Day 2. Arrive Addis Abba
Arrive Addis Ababa. Time permitting, we may visit some of the many sights in the city.
Day 3. Fly to Gondar
Fly to Gondar. Afternoon free to explore this fascinating city - the Camelot of Ethiopia, rich in art, culture and medieval castles.
Day 4. Link Ethiopia project
Visit a Link Ethiopia project. Afternoon overland transfer to Debark. Chance to explore the area and community on foot.
Day 5. Walk to Sankaber
Walk to Sankaber via Chimkwanit and Michibi.
Day 6. Walk to Geetch via Jinbar Waterfalls
Pass the Jinbar waterfalls as you walk deeper into the Simiens. A final ascent leads to camp at Geetch where numerous Giant Lobelias can be found.
Day 7. Walk to Chennek
Trekking up to the promontory of Imet Gogo the views across the northern highlands of Ethiopia must be one of the finest anywhere in the world.
Day 8. Walk to Ambiko via the Bwahit Pass then return to Chennek
Across to the Bwahit Pass, the highest point on your trek. Take some time to relax and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding valleys as well as Ras Dashen, Ethiopia's highest peak. Then take a gentle stroll back to your camp to enjoy your last night camping in the Simien Mountains.
Day 9. Drive to Gondar
Drive from Chennek back to Gondar.
Day 10 Leave Gondar and drive to Bahir Dar
Drive to Bahir Dar viw Awuramba village. After lunch explore Blue Nile Fall. Evening live Ethiopian music entertainment.
Day 11. Explore Lake Tana
Explore the islands and monasteries of Lake Tana. Fly from Bahir Dar to Addis Ababa to connect with onward flight.
Day 12. Arrive UK
Arrive back in the UK.
