Arriving in the legendary capital of Kathmandu, you’ll first enjoy a sightseeing tour of this fascinating city. The next morning a short flight takes you to Pokhara where the adventure begins. Here you’ll enjoy relatively low-level, straightforward trekking along village trails with spectacular views of the Annapurna range including the wondrous Fishtail Mountain.

Passing through cheerful villages, you’re sure to be greeted with ‘Namaste’ from the friendly locals, whilst staying in ‘Ker and Downey’s’ renowned luxury lodges along the way. Here at the lodges you’ll be able to enjoy superlative Himalayan panoramic views.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Depart UK

    Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Kathmandu.

  2. Day 2: Arrive Kathmandu

    Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

    Enjoy a day of exploring the beautiful old city of Kathmandu, as well as the Swayambhunath Stupa and Patan City.

  4. Day 4: Fly to Pokhara & trek in Modi Khola Valley

    A short but dramatic flight takes you to Pokhara, from where you’ll be met by your guide and transferred by private car out of Pokhara to the start of the trekking trail. Follow a ridgeline down into the Modi Khola valley and on to the Sanctuary Lodge. The afternoon is free to relax or take a short stroll to the nearby village of Birethanti.

  5. Day 5: Trek to the Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk

    Enjoy walking through terraced farmland dotted with tiny settlements and cheerful locals before a steady ascent on a stone slabbed trail. You will be rewarded with fine views of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail) back across the valley. Reach the Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk and enjoy the magnificence of your surroundings in comfort.

  6. Day 6: Explore Ghandruk region

    Sit back in the lush gardens of the Himalaya Lodge and watch a sunrise with a truly magnificent Himalayan panorama. Your guide will take you on an exploration of the mountain village and surrounding countryside.

  7. Day 7: Trek to Majgaun

    Pass grazing buffalos and goats, as well as the donkey and mule trains that convey goods to and from the Gurkha settlements. Descend to Shauli Bazaar.

  8. Day 8: Trek through rhododendron forests to Dhampus

    Walk through rhododendron and oak forest, with wonderful mountain views through the breaks in the forest canopy. Observe and appreciate local life in the Annapurna as you pass villages and a school along the way. Reach the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying sweeping views of the Annapurna range.

  9. Day 9: Descend & transfer to Pokhara

    This morning is filled wth dazzling views of the Himalayas as you follow the ridge line and descend to the village of Phedi, before transferring by road to Pokhara.

  10. Day 10: Fly to Kathmandu; visit Bhaktapur

    Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to Bhaktapur for a sightseeing tour of the ancient Newari City. The extraordinary Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its monuments reflect the glory days of the Malla Dynasty.

  11. Day 11: Depart Kathmandu

    Depart Kathmandu on an overnight flight back to the UK.

  12. Day 12: Arrive UK
