The Heart of the Julian Alps
8 days, self-guided, minimum 2 people, exclusive seasonal daily departures
- The amazing Soca Valley and turquoise river
- Alpine summit "Via Ferrata" option
- Picturesque Lake Bled
The Julian Alps are very similar in character to the Dolomites, forming the northernmost part of the Dinaric Alpine range and provide an impressive backdrop of jagged limestone peaks rising to almost 3000 metres.
This holiday is perfect for discovering the delights of walking amongst the Julian Alps. Crossing the Vrsic Pass you'll descend into the simply sublime Trenta Valley and then onto the unique and exceptionally picturesque Soca valley, with its unbelievably turquoise river. This area of outstanding natural beauty was at one time the Isonzo front and it is here that Hemingway based parts of his famous novel, 'A Farewell to Arms'.
For the more adventurous (and highly recommended), there's the option of incorporating a "Via Ferrata" alpine summit day in the company of a professional mountain guide too.
