Discover the beautiful island of Corfu on this 8-day self-guided walking holiday. A mixture of cobbled paths, sea views and local tavernas gives you a varied trip to remember.

  • Enjoy spectacular views of the island
  • Undulating trails & hidden unspoilt bays
  • Explore friendly mountain villages
  • Vineyards & olive groves

Deservedly a firm favourite, this is a must do for walkers. Explore this picturesque island's villages and long beaches in the south and the beautiful hilly landscapes up to Liapades on the West coast

Enjoy a magnificent walking week through some of the best areas of Corfu. You'll follow inland paths which take you through cedar, willow and juniper forests, passing lush meadows and rivers. Avoiding the main tourist areas on the coast, discover ancient villages and houses, byzantine monasteries and delightful seafront tavernas.

There will be plenty of opportunities to sample the warm, azure waters of the Ionian Sea during the trip and to enjoy Corfu's pleasant sunny climate.

The self-guided Corfu Trail is also available as a 2-week itinerary or 10-day option.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Fly to Corfu

Arrive Corfu and transfer to Asprokavos.

  2. Day 2: Asprokavos to Spartera (loop circuit)

Start your trip with the shortest trail which leads you to the southern most tip of the island and the ruins of a monastery. You will pass through forest to reach the sandy beach of Arkoudilas, from where you walk along the shore to the northern end of the beach and up to the village of Spartera.

    Walking distance: 12 km | Ascent: 300 m | Descent: 300 m

  3. Day 3: Asprokavos to Santa Barbara

On today's walk, you will cross over the southern part of the island to the east and back to the western coast. Starting from Asprokavos, pass through olive groves and fields to Lefkimmi, from where the path takes you through the city's various neighbourhoods and historic centre.

Leaving the second biggest town of the island, you will descend into the green valley of the Gardeno River. The last part of the walk leads you up again, so you have wonderful views of both the east and west coasts, before your final descent takes you to the west coast of the island and the town of Santa Barbara.

    Walking distance: 22 km | Ascent: 350 m | Descent: 350 m

  4. Day 4: Santa Barbara to Paramonas

The first part of today’s walks leads you up through sand dunes and along the shore of Corfu’s biggest salt water lake. Later, you will leave the coastline and continue your walk through seemingly deserted olive groves before reaching the small village of Paramonas.

    Walking distance: 20 km | Ascent: 200 m | Descent: 150 m

  5. Day 5: Paramonas to Benitses

Today is the first day of real ascent, leaving Paramonas and walking up on overgrown paths through olive groves. Once high up, the views over the coastline are amazing. On the descent you pass through small villages and a heathland valley.

After the village of Strongili, your route climbs again to reach today’s highest point of Dafnata. You have the option to go even higher to the viewpoint at Mount Stavros before making your descent on the road to Coyevinas, where a forest trail takes you to the town of Benitses.

    Walking distance: 18 km | Ascent: 650 m | Descent: 650 m

  6. Day 6: Stavros to Pelekas

Today you will climb the second highest peak of Corfu, Agi Deka. Follow narrow and old footpaths which will lead you through forest and an impressive landscape of huge limestone rocks. After passing the village of Ano Garouna, your walk takes you steeply up to the summit of Agi Deka, after which some descent and level walking takes you to the picturesque village of Pelekas.

    Walking distance: 18 km | Ascent: 650 m | Descent: 650 m

  7. Day 7: Pelekas to Liapades

Today’s walk leads you through a variety of landscapes. You start out by heading to one of the island’s loveliest beaches (optional visit to monastery, payable locally). Climb up to the viewpoint on the road to the small village of Vatos, before descending again towards the Ropa Valley. Once you have reached Liapades, take some time to relax or explore before you are transferred to your final accommodation in Corfu Town.

    Walking distance: 23 km | Ascent: 650 m | Descent: 850 m

  8. Day 8: Depart Corfu

Enjoy your final morning in Corfu before being transferred to the airport in time for your flight.
