Highlights of Transylvania

8 Day, Guided Seasonal Daily Departures for 2 People or more.

New for 2008

A unique opportunity to walk amongst the fabled Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania. Visit medieval Brasov, walk in the Bucegi Mountains, and enter "Castle Dracula" and the Fairytale Palace of Peles. Hike in the stunning Piatra Craiului National Park, enjoy traditional Transylvanian hospitality in Zarnesti and even visit a bear hide.

Your journey to the enchanted land of Transylvania begins in Sinaia (the "Pearl of the Carpathians") beneath the imposing Bucegi Mountains. After visiting the fairytale Peles Palace a cable car takes you high onto the Bucegi plateau for a scenic walk before descending again by cable car. Reaching the bohemian, medieval Transylvanian city of Brasov, there's plenty of time to explore this fascinating 'mini-Prague'.

You'll also visit Bran Castle, more often referred to these days as "Castle Dracula" before moving on to Zarnesti with the stunning Piatra Craiului National Park forming a splendid back drop for the next few days. Your hosts in Zarnesti are Gigi and Elena Popa who provide the best in Transylvanian hosp Here you'll walk through the land of the bear and wolf, ever surrounded by the formidable 2000m high knife edge ridge of Piatra Craiului through forests and open, rural countryside passing through villages that time seems to have forgot. Here in the high pastures, shepherds protect their flocks by night and graze them during the day as well as making delicious sheep cheese.

You'll also visit the quaint village of Viscri (a UNESCO World Heritage village) and the dreamy ancient citadel of Sighisoara (birthplace of Vlad Tepes- the REAL Dracula), as well as spend an evening high in the Transylvanian forests at a hide on the lookout for wild bears.
