This fabulous itinerary combines climbing Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres), Mount Meru (4,566 metres) and a safari in the famous Northern National Parks of Tanzania making it an unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience.
You start with a valuable acclimatisation hike to the summit of the smaller and highly spectacular Mount Meru. Views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding plains from Meru will trigger excitement of what is to come. Dropping down to Momella you then start on your way to the "Roof of Africa" along the Shira Route. The six-days that you spend on the mountain will take you through farmland, plantations, across lava ridges, below the glaciers of the Western Breach, and finally up the zig-zag path to the crater rim and onto Uhuru Peak.
To relax after the exhilaration of your climb we include a 3-day safari to Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks, where you are almost guaranteed to see elephants, lions, giraffe, zebra and possibly Rhino. This holiday truly is the best of the best.
