This itinerary takes in just the right amount of history, along with beautiful walking, hospitable locals and delicious food. Begin your holiday with a choice of walks in the peaks of Durmitor National Park, followed by the rainforests and glacial lakes of Biogradska Gora. Take the scenic train to Podgorica and a walking tour of historic Cetinje. Hike to the Jezerski Vhr Peak of Mount Lovcen and enjoy some of the finest viewpoints in the Bay of Kotor.

This self-guided itinerary allows you to go at your own pace with time to stop along the way to enjoy local places of interest. Take a picnic lunch with you as you walk on good, well-marked trails from the mountains to the coast of Montenegro.

Day 1. Fly to Podgorica
The tour begins at your hotel in Zabljak where your local representative will meet with you with details of your itinerary.
Day 2. Durmitor National Park
There is a choice of 2 walks in the park; A circular hiking tour to see the glacier lakes or a hike to Crvena Greda, one of the most impressive peaks in the park.
Day 3. Biogradska Gora National Park
See the Tara Bridge high above the world's second deepest canyon. In the early afternoon, begin your walk in Biogradska Gora National Park.
Day 4. Panorama ridge hike to Kolasin
Continue your walk over the gentle ridge with great views over the park before descending towards the town of Kolasin. Visit a small botanical garden.
Day 5. Scenic train ride, Cetinje City Tour
This morning, board the train for a spectacular ride to Podgorica. From here, visit the old capital of Cetinje for a self-guided walking tour of the former royal capital.
Day 6. Old trade route to the Bay of Kotor
Follow the horse trail towards Kotor for a scenic ascent of magnificent views across the bay. Spend some time exploring the old town of Kotor.
Day 7. Hike the Vrmac Range and Bay of Kotor
Follow a zig-zag trail to the ridge of Vrmac dividing the bays of Tivat and Kotor. Continue to the village of Stoliv and travel by boat to Perast before returning to the Bay of Kotor.
Day 8. Departure
Depart Montenegro for onward journey.
