The John Paul II Trail

8 days, self-guided, minimum 2 people, exclusive seasonal daily departures

  • The magnificent High Tatras
  • Visit Wadowice, birthplace of John Paul II
  • The delightful Kalatowki Meadows

It's well known that in his younger days then as Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul II was an avid hiker and whilst as a University lecturer would also regularly take his students walking too. Following the best sections of the official John Paul II Trail and its subsidiary routes not only do you visit the historically important sites connected with John Paul II, but also experience the wonderful landscapes he enjoyed walking in himself too.

After visiting his birthplace a trek to the highest point in the Beskidy Mountains reveals superlative views into remote parts of Slovakia. A particular favourite meadow of John Paul II affords fine views of the jagged peaks of the High Tatras, before a night on top of Turbacz Mountain completes this fascinating journey of discovery.
