The "Swan King" is best known for creating the fantasy castle of Schloss Neuschwanstein, without doubt he most famous landmark in Bavaria. During the course of this amazing holiday you'll discover more about the fascinating Swan King visiting many of his fairytale castles, made even more atmospheric by their picturesque locations surrounded by magnificent alpine peaks.

With accommodation in quality, family operated 4* hotels and even a Schloss hotel too we've incorporated two nights at the sumptuous Hotel Sommer on the shores of Lake Forggen. Here you can visit the outlandish Schloss Neuschwanstein as well as relax and invigorate at the Sommer's first rate wellness centre before heading for the famous alpine resort of Garmisch by way of Linderhof Castle. Garmisch, surrounded by lofty peaks affords easy access to the roof of Bavaria, the summit of Zugspitze (by train!), a trek to the high castle of Schachen Schloss, or exploration of scenic alpine lakes and villages.
