Gardens of the Western Atlas
8 days, Guided for 2 people or more, Seasonal Daily Departures
- Verdant valleys and quiet trails
- Explore the walled city of Taroudant
- Gardens of olives, argans, walnuts and bananas
Near the western end of the Atlas Mountain range, as it dips down towards the Atlantic Ocean, cultivated green valleys snake up from the fruit-growing region of the Souss valley to the peaks above the Tichka plateau. Starting from the old walled city of Taroudant, our Western Atlas trip explores these valleys where you will discover a way of life that continues as it has done for centuries.
Here you will be far from the tourist crowds that flock to the Toubkal region; here you will be a welcome guest in villages that still receive few visitors, and exist primarily on a self-sufficient lifestyle. Easy walking leads you through cultivated valleys, over low passes and through sleepy villages, and our local guide will delight in sharing his cultural knowledge with you.
