Camino de Santiago - Guided
11 days Guided Groups, Fixed Departures
The guided version of this trip offers several benefits compared to the independent version, the most important of which are a bilingual trip leader, who is well-versed in the history and tales of the trail and Spain in general, and the convenience of a full-time support vehicle. In addition, the guided itinerary is three days longer, allowing you to include overnight stops in the fascinating towns of Astorga and Villafranca del Bierzo as well as one extra night in Santiago at the end of the tour. You will also enjoy eight days of walking compared to just five on the independent route.
Taking advantage of the minibus, we have selected the most attractive sections of the trail to walk between Leon and Sarria on Days 2, 3 and 4. From Day 5 onwards, you walk the entire way from Sarria to Santiago, as on the independent version. The support minibus will be used to transfer you and your baggage throughout the tour, give you a lift if needed, and enable you to visit various emblematic sites on the Pilgrim's Way, such as Castrillo de los Polvazares, O'Cebreiro, Samos and Vilar de Donas which are not visited on the standard independent route.
Your leader will meet you in Leon and accompany you throughout the tour. He or she will also arrange delicious daily picnic lunches, weather permitting, or take you to a suitable place to eat. The support vehicle also carries water and fruit for snacks and makes stops at strategic points along each day's walk to supply the group as needed.
This is an excellent way to enjoy the Camino de Santiago if you would like to meet some like-minded people while experiencing the pilgrimage. The guided price also includes guided tours and entrance fees to historic sights in Leon and Santiago.
