The mighty Dachstein rises to 2996 metres, dominated by glaciers and rocky peaks. This superb alpine trek takes you into the realms of these jagged peaks and glaciers and is perfect for those who enjoy challenging higher-level routes. This cleverly structured itinerary alternates charming hotels with intermittent nights spent high in the mountains in comfortable alpine lodges.

You'll be following waymarked mountain trails throughout. Starting from Gosau, on the shores of the turquoise Gosausee the route traverses and then crosses over the impressive Dachstein massif and onto the wild, Am Stein plateau to descend ultimately to the "chocolate box" world heritage, lakeshore village of Hallstatt. A pleasing lakeside stroll is followed by a final night in the mountains before this spectacular circuit is complete.
