Apuseni - Land of the Sunset
8 days, guided, minimum 2 people, daily seasonal departures
- Walking in the "heart" of Transylvania
- The Ice Cave of Scarisoara
- The magnificent chasm of "The Citadel"
The karst and forested landscapes of the remote Apuseni mountains are very special indeed. The Apuseni can be best described as the "heart" of Transylvania and until 1918 was part of Hungary. Hungarians still revere Transylvania as the place where the purest forms of their culture are preserved and in the Apuseni there is a definite sense of place that is remarkably different from other regions in Romania.
Here you will find isolated settlements somehow set outside time, preserving a life and a landscape almost lost now in the rest of Europe. You will be treated to sublime, varied and tranquil walking as you unlock the mystique of the Apuseni on this unique discovery adventure to one of the most amazing parts of Europe you've probably never heard of.
