This mini-circuit walk in the stunning Annapurna region of magical Nepal surely has to be amongst the best short trekking holidays in the world. An ideal introductory trek for regular hillwalkers to the delights of Himalayan trekking in the Annapurna region and purposefully designed to be best enjoyed exclusively in the intimate company of couples or friends.
Passing through cheerful villages you're sure to be greeted with "Namaste" from the friendly locals along the way. The combination of a landscape of terraced fields and a backdrop of snow covered Himalayan giants makes this a truly picturesque trek. An ascent of Poon Hill reveals one of the most amazing mountain panorama sunrise views to be found in the entire Himalaya before chilling out at lakeside in scenic, laid back Pokhara.
- Day 1
- Depart UK.
- Day 2
- Arrive Kathmandu and rendezvous at the your hotel in the Lazimpat district
- Day 3
- There's the option of adding a pre-booked Everest flight to get up close and personal with the world's highest peak. A morning sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and the afternoon is at your leisure.
- Day 4
- A short flight along the Himalaya to Pokhara and a brief vehicle transfer to the trailhead. Ascend a mostly slabbed trail through Rhododendron forest, passing the odd tiny village. The trail eases as we approach our overnjght halt of Dhampus/Pothana and there are fine views across to Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
- Day 5
- Down, up and across is the order of the day. Into the Modi Khola Valley and then across a suspension bridge. A continual ascent leads to Ghandruk and you should now be able to see why Machhapuchhare is known as The Fishtail as it's twin summits come into view.
- Day 6
- Uphill for most of today as we climb ever higher to reach Tadapani. Annapurna South and Hiunchuli become increasingly closer and even more impressive.
- Day 7
- More ascent, but it eases as we reach Ghorepani, which is at the junction of several Himalayan trails and a hive of activity.
- Day 8
- A pre-dawn start to make the short ascent to what is widely regarded as one of the finest viewpoints in the Himalaya-Poon Hill. We aim to reach the top just before first light and hope for a classic sunrise to illuminate Annapurna South and reveal views across the Kali Gandaki to the imposing bulk of Dhaulagiri. Down to Ghorepani for breakfast and then a seemingly endeless descent to Tikhedunga.
- Day 9
- The trail out of the Annapurna begins to level as we pass Birethanti and on to the roadhead at Nayapul. Here we transfer back to Pokhara with the rest of today free to relax lakeside.
- Day 10
- A free morning in Pokhara. Recommended is to get up early and take a rented rowing boat across the lake. In the afternoon you are transferred by road to the village of Bandipur.
- Day 11
- Continue the overland journey to Kathmandu, with the afternoon free for last minute souvenir hunting.
- Day 12
- Depart Kathmandu.
- Day 13
- Dependent upon your chosen airline, your flight will arrive back in the UK today (or the evening of day 12).
